80's horror

I love that evil monk choir at the beginning. Your song varies so much and never gets boring. I hear the signature wasp synths that you use in all your tracks, really gives it that oldschool disco vibe. Only thing I would maybe suggest, is when the "metal ghost" vocals come in, it gets a bit muddy. I would say EQ a bit of the lowend out of the metal ghost vocal, and it should sit nicer in your mix. Always a pleasure to listen to your stuff dude! and this is no exception.

Anth0n responds:

Thanks for the good review. Actually, I did EQ out the low part of the "metal ghost" vocal. It sounded worse before I did. If I messed around enough with the rest of the song, maybe the vocal would sound a bit better.

goo shee

You had a nice groove going on there. Deep kick... unique percussion... some of which I digged, some of which I didn't. I think you could have taken this song a little farther. You've got the basics but you didn't really take the tune as far as you could have. That electro synth you lowpassed around 2 minutes didn't really fit with the tune. You need to high cut a majority of your instruments, because in a few places, usually when you high pass them, they get a bit shrill. Overall good shit

Mans0n responds:

:O thanks for the review and advice man! your definitely right when you say i could have taken this song farther. I will definitely try and improve on it.

nicely done

I'm only listening on crappy computer speakers, but I can tell you put alot of effort into this. My first suggestion would be get some better drum samples. The hi hats didn't fit with your drums that well. I liked the main lead and that transition synth. Your song structure was good, as was your beat and reese. The only thing I really didn't like was your hihats, which screamed "default fruity loops samples!" I wont comment on the mastering, due to lack of proper sound equipment. I give it a 5/5 and 9/10.

Oakwood responds:

Well, to be honest, the drums are all FPC samples. I used the preset for the first time and found it to be pretty cool, so I also used the hihats, which, after all, don't fit, yeah. But I appreciate the review and the critics. :)

nice

I'm listening on shitty computer speakers, but I can already tell this is quality shit. Not sure why you released this for free? anyway, filthy filthy shit. Only suggestion I can think of... your beat is punchy, but it could do with a swing. I think a bit of well placed percussion could give it a better groove. I'm a sucker for that reggae piano

I think this is

The bassline sure is. And I really. The buildup definately.

pretty good

you had some decent moments. it was missing a more solid beat and the panning was a bit excessive, but overall good job

I can hear the effort you put into this, so you without a doubt get a 5 and 10. The mixing was superb although I noticed it got a bit muddy whenever you put a crash effect in there. The other beef I had was it seemed like it kept building up without finally climaxing. This is clearly your style and I think you should keep on doing what you do. Fived, I hope you get best of the week, because you deserve it.

ErikMcClure responds:

I'll have to try and fix those crash cymbals a bit. Its tricky trying to balance them without drowning everything else out.

I do tend to prefer mini-climaxes, but tried to put in at least one very obvious climax at 1:24, its just a melodic climax instead of a volume-related one.

Thanks! :D

moar

good shit Rig. As fulfilling as a hungry man dinner

Rig responds:

I've never had those, actually. I guess I've never been a hungry man.
